ITAL 123 SC - Renaissance Italian Literature Selections from the writings of Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Machiavelli, and Ariosto. Analysis of these works as milestones in the evolution of Renaissance literature. Emphasis will be placed on the stylistic and intellectual contributions of these authors. The course is also designed to make the student aware of the interrelationships between literature and other aspects of life in Renaissance Italy, such as politics, religion, social trends, and culture in a general sense.
Prerequisite(s): ITAL 044 or equivalent. Course Credit: 1.0
