ENGL 155 SC - Multi-Ethnic Literature of the United States
This introduces students to the critical and historical frameworks literary scholars have used to study multi-ethnic literature in U.S. contexts. Readings focus on the nineteenth- and twentieth centuries and include works by U.S. authors of African, Asian, indigenous, Latinx, and MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) descent. The course pays particular attention to the various ways literary scholarhsip has engaged with U.S. writers situated at literal and figurative borderlands and/or writing from hybrid identities.
