ENGL 121 SC - Milton’s “Dark Materials”: Nature, Knowledge, and Creation John Milton’s work inspires Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” trilogy, in which reality and knowledge are radically altered. This course will introduce Milton’s explorations of the nature of knowledge, creation, and the place of fiction in a culture of science, as well as Pullman’s reworking of Milton’s epic poem.
