ENGL 123B SC - The Jacobean Shakespeare A study of Shakespeare’s dark comedies, tragedies, and romances (1603-1611) in relation to their historical context. We will trace the development of Shakespeare’s dramatic art through his increasingly tragic vision to the magical transformations of the final romances, with special attention to the roles of women in the various genres.
