ENGL 103 SC - American Modernism This course, which can be taken to fulfill the second half of the survey requirement, covers late 19th and 20th century literary Modernism. Students will learn techniques of close reading and be asked to consider the historical and philosophical contexts of Modernism as well as literary works. Writers may include Whitman, Dickinson, Stephen Crane, Eliot, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Faulkner, Cather, Hughes, Ellison, Ginsberg, Morrison, Kingston, among others.
