HMSC 132 SC - Critiques of Community

This course will examine critiques of the concept of community within continental European philosophy, sociology and literary theory from the 19th century to the present. We will study thinkers who have questioned dominant conceptions of social and cultural cohesion in an attempt to understand the forms of alienation that have emerged in modernity.
