GEOL 111A PO - Introduction to GIS Introduction to GIS. Geospatial analysis of data obtained from numerous sources is a critical way to learn about the Earth’s environment, for example the interplay between geological, biological, hydrological and human/social elements. Extensive hands-on learning of basic GIS techniques paves the way for a project in which students explore a complex (normally environmental) problem.
