CHST 185A CH - Decolonial Love in U.S. Latina/o Literature This course considers how narratives of love are shaped by colonial histories and decolonial practices within U.S. Latino/a literature. We will examine how colonial legacies influence notions of self and the other through categories of race, gender, and sexuality and how Latina/o writers enact decolonial imaginaries in response. We will further consider what relation such intimate practices have to our understanding of social justice. We will read works by Ana Castillo, Sandra Cisneros, Junot Diaz, Arturo Islas, and others.
