American Studies Minor

Requirements for the Minor

The minor in American studies consists of six courses. If possible, at least half these courses should be taken at Scripps, although exceptions may be made when specific courses required for the minor are only available off campus.

• AMST 103 SC - Introduction to American Cultures
• Two-semester survey of U.S. history  HIST 070A SC - United States History to 1865
• HIST 070B SC - Introduction to Modern U.S. History or equivalent)
• AMST 180 SC - American Studies Seminar
• Two additional American Studies approved courses selected in consultation with student’s adviser.
