CHST 126B CH - Contemporary Chicanx Literature

Beginning with the groundbreaking anthology This Bridge Called My Back (1981), this survey examines how contemporary Chicanx literature focuses on questions of identity, specifically gender and sexuality. Theoretical readings in feminism and gay studies will inform our interpretation of texts by Anzaldua, Castillo, Cisneros, Cuadros, Gaspar de Alba, Islas, Moraga, and Viramontes, among others.
