This seminar course will consider the role of women in early modern and Enlightenment science as the objects of scientific inquiry and women as scientists or natural philosophers. Reading topics will include: anatomy, astronomy, mathematics, and physical sciences, along with contemporary theory on gender, science, and cultures of pre-1800 Europe.
