CHEM 040L KS - Introduction to Biological Chemistry This course is designed for first-year students and must be taken concurrently with BIOL 040L . The two courses together provide an alternative to General Chemistry (CHEM 014L ) and Introductory Biology (BIOL 043L ) and highlight areas of overlap between the two disciplines. Chemistry topics covered include stoichiometry, periodicity, atomic and molecular structure, bonding theory, enthalpy, and phases of matter. Biology topics include introductory material in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry and genetics, including cell structure, metabolism, gene expression, and inheritance. In total, BIOL 040L and CHEM 040L will include 6 hours of lecture and 8 hours of lab per week. Enrollment is by permission of the instructors.
Fee: Laboratory fee $50. Course Credit: 1.0 Offered: Every fall
