HIST 110 SC - Renaissance Venice: Politics, Society, and Visual Culture In this course, we will examine topics at the intersection of social history, art history, and political/institutional history, such as the art of republican self-fashioning; courtesan culture, patriarchal family structures, and the female nude; interior decorations and the concept of male domesticity; charity in the art of Tintoretto. Mix of primary and secondary literature, visual material.
