HIST 173 AF - Black Intellectuals and the Politics of Race This course examines ideas about race, nationality, and citizenship in African American intellectual thought in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Taught as a reading/discussion seminar, students are introduced to major themes, controversies and contradictions among Black intellectuals engaged in public and scholarly conversations about the role and function of race in contemporary U.S. society.
