HIST 111 SC - The Worlds of Niccolo Machiavelli This course examines the figure of Niccolò Machiavelli in the context of the Italian Renaissance. It begins with a survey of the classical, medieval, and humanist background for his work before turning to his own corpus of texts. We will then relate Machiavelli to his social world (politics, gender, class) before concluding with a look at his legacy in European history.
