HIST 117 SC - The Economic History of the Western World I: The Rise of Capitalism This course examines the economic history of the Western world from the decline of Rome to the mid-eighteenth century. A principal goal is to understand the institutional, technological, and cultural transformations associated with the rise of capitalism, in addition to examining the sources and methods of premodern economic history. Cross listing in Economics. This is the first of a two-part sequence. Part two will be offered as ECON128 SC in the spring.
