ENGL 141 SC - The Slave Narrative and the Novel of Slavery This course explores representations of slavery in slave narratives and novels about slavery from the 17th through the 21st century, paying particular attention to the antebellum period. We will consider the terms on which each genre establishes its authority and claims to be an ideal genre for depicting slavery.
