ENGL 163 SC - Contemporary American Graphic Novels This course explores the emergence of the graphic novel as a newly “serious” genre, appropriate for literary study. A primary question will be: what is distinctive about the way a graphic novel uses narrative form? Authors may include Alan Moore, Alison Bechdel, Marjane Satrapi, and Chris Ware, among others.
