MATH 175 SC - Number Theory and Cryptography Number Theory is often considered one of the most beautiful and elegant topics in mathematics. We will study properties concerning the integers, such as divisibility, congruences, and prime numbers. More advanced topics include quadratic reciprocity, elliptic curves and Diophantine equations. Throughout the course we will demonstrate powerful applications to public key cryptosystems such as RSA and Diffie-Helman.
Prerequisite(s): MATH 060 . Course Credit: 1.0 Offered: Alternate fall semesters
