ANTH 137 SC - Food and Culture Food is at the heart of most cultures and this course examines the social practices and meanings that surround food and food rituals. Feasts, fasts, and diets will be viewed in historical and social context with close attention to issues of gender and class. Consumption and industrial foodways in the global context will be linked to local tastes and food practices.
