ANTH 216 SC - Extractivism in Latin America This cultural anthropology course examines how the extraction of natural resources (such as gold, tin, rubber, oil, and gas) has profoundly shaped social, political, and economic life in Latin America and the Caribbean. Topics may include: colonialism and resource capitalism; the role of transnational corporations; state investments in extractive development; green energy transitions; toxins and environmental contamination; Indigenous and environmental justice movements.
