CORE 010A SC - Art and Activism This course explores how contemporary art engages with urgent social and environmental issues, considering the aesthetic and ethical questions that arise when art and activism intersect. We’ll ask whether framing activism as art is meaningful for both fields, and whether artistic approaches can deepen activist efforts rather than serve as purely symbolic gestures. Students will study existing artistic interventions, research-based practices, and “thought experiments” as strategies. They will identify causes to address, conduct research, develop communicative approaches, and create presentations proposing artistic strategies to engage and impact target audiences.
