CORE 003 SC - Fame & Happiness: French Women as Case Study This course focuses on French women as a case study and examines critically and sociologically the degree to which degree ambition, talent and happiness have been reconcilable for French women. The study of historical and cultural factors influencing French women’s lives from 1789 to this day will be used as a point of departure to compare and contrast our modern perceptions, values and expectations. Our study will include such famously transgressive public figures as Staël, Sand, Beauvoir, Chanel and Bardot.
