Prerequisite and core courses should be completed at Scripps. Students planning to study abroad are urged to complete core courses beforehand.

Requirements for honors in Economics or Mathematical Economics:
A grade point average in the major of at least 11.0 (A-).
A grade of A- or better on a two-semester thesis ( ECON191 SC and ECON191H SC). Students will receive an In Progress grade for ECON191 in Fall semester; their final grade for the two semesters will be determined at the conclusion of ECON191H in Spring semester.
A successful oral defense of the thesis before the economics faculty and the thesis readers in Spring semester.
Students interested in being considered as a candidate for honors should consult with their economics thesis readers during the second semester of their junior year and again during the first semester of their senior year.
