Requirements for the Minor
The minor in Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures requires six courses above SPAN 033 , selected in consultation with the academic adviser. Only one of these courses may also be used toward a student’s major requirements
- SPAN 044 or equivalent.
- One upper division course in Peninsular or Latin American Cultural Studies.
- One course in Peninsular, Latin American or Caribbean Literature.
- Three upper division courses (100 and above) selected from the fields of anthropology, art, Chicano/a-Latino/a Studies, economics, history, international relations, literature, music, politics, sociology. Only one of these may be taken in English.
- Study abroad during one semester in Spain or a Latin American country is strongly recommended.
A complete minor declaration form must be submitted to the registrar, with the signatures of both the student’s Scripps adviser and the chair of the Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures Department (or a designated professor).
