Return to: Programs of Study
Engineering is a 3-2 program in which the student spends three years at Scripps and two years at an engineering school, completing a bachelor’s degree at Scripps and a second one at the engineering school. Both degrees are awarded at the end of five years upon completion of all requirements. An engineering major planning a 3-2 program must petition for participation in the program to the Committee on Academic Review during the fall semester of the junior year. Please refer to Combined Degree Programs in Enrollment and Special Programs section of this catalog.

Requirements for the Major
While attending Scripps, the student satisfies all requirements for the Scripps degree including the first portion of the engineering major: - MATH 030 SC - Calculus I
- MATH 031 SC - Calculus II
- MATH 032 SC - Calculus III
- MATH 111 SC - Differential Equations (or MATH111 CM, or MATH102 PO).
- PHYS 033L KS - Principles of Physics
- PHYS 034L KS - Principles of Physics
- PHYS 035 KS - Modern Physics with Computational Applications
- CHEM 014L KS - Basic Principles of Chemistry
- Two advanced physics courses, normally PHYS100 KS Computational Physics and Engineering and PHYS 101 KS - Classical Mechanics with Computational Applications
- BIOL 099 KS - Introduction to Python or CSCI 005 HM, Introduction to Computer Science, or PHYS 108 KS, Programming for Science and Engineering, or CSCI 004 PZ,
Intro to Computer Science for Non-Majors, or CSCI 051 CM, Introduction to Computer Science, or an approved equivalent introdoctury programming course.
NOTE: PHYS 108 KS, Programming for Science and Engineering, may not be applied toward
