Requirements for the Minor
The minor in Hispanic Studies requires six courses above SPAN 033 , selected in consultation with the academic adviser. Only one of these courses may also be used toward a student’s major requirements
- SPAN 044 , SPAN 070 or equivalent.
- One course on Spain or Latin American Civilization: SPAN 110 , SPAN 102 (at CMC) or equivalent.
- One literature survey course in Peninsular or Latin American Literature (SPAN 120A , SPAN 120B , SPAN 125A , SPAN 125B or equivalent).
- Three courses selected from the fields of anthropology, art, Chicano/a-Latino/a Studies, economics, history, international relations, literature, music, politics, sociology. Only one of these may be taken in English.
- Study abroad during one semester in Spain or a Latin American country is strongly recommended.
A complete minor declaration form must be submitted to the registrar, with the signatures of both the student’s Scripps adviser and the chair of the Hispanic Studies Department (or a designated professor). |
