PHYS 115 KS - Statistical Mechanics with Numerical Approach and Application This course covers, at the junior-senior level, statistical mechanics and thermodynamics. Standard topics include the laws of thermodynamics, kinetic theory, classical statistical mechanics and its connection to thermodynamics, quantum statistical mechanics and its applications. In addition, numerical techniques are implemented, and used to solve realistic thermodynamics problems in the computer lab. Enrollment limited to 20.
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 033L , PHYS 034L , or both semesters of the AISS course (AISS 001AL , AISS 001BL , AISS 002AL , AISS 002BL ); PHYS 100 or equivalent. Course Credit: 1.0 Offered: Occasionally
