ITAL 121 SC - Readings in Italian Medieval and Renaissance Literature The course will focus on some of the major works of Italian medieval and Renaissance literature, and on the ways they present a lens through which to understand this fertile era of pre-modernity. To be included are excerpts from Dante’s Divine Comedy, Boccaccio’s Decameron, Petrarch’s lyric sonnets and the tradition they generated, and Ariosto’s epic fantasy, The Orlando Furioso. Taught in English.
