WRIT 197H SC - Topics in Writing: The Point of Departure This course will explore the gray area between autobiography and fiction, emphasizing why and how fiction writers must depart from the facts in order to find the story. Using our own lives as points of departure, we will search for “…the story that didn’t happen within the story that did” (Gardener).
