Data Science Minor

Requirements for the Minor
A minor in Data Science requires a minimum of seven courses beyond Calculus 1 and Calculus 2.
- Computer Programming DS 001 SC or
- Foundations of Data Science DS 002 SC
- Probability and Statistics BIOL174L KS or BIOL175 KS or ECON120 SC or PSYC103 SC
- Data Science Ethics & Justice PSYC183 SC
- Linear Algebra MATH060 SC
- Minimum of two additional upper-division courses selected in careful consultation with a Data Science minor adviser, for a total of at least seven courses.
Please note that only the exact courses listed above are accepted towards the minor. Substitute courses must be approved in advance by one of the Data Science Minor Co-directors. Careful consulation with Scripps Data Science faculty is required as not all courses listed under the Data Science course area on the portal are suitable for the Minor.
Upper division courses should be numbered 100 and above or approved by a Data Science minor adviser. Study abroad courses can be used for demonstrated proficiency and upper-division electives. Selection of study abroad courses for inclusion in the Data Science minor should be done in careful consultation with Scripps Data Science faculty.
