Italian Studies Major

Requirements for the Major

A major in Italian Studies requires a minimum of eight courses plus senior thesis. Prerequisites for the major are:  ITAL 001 , ITAL 002 , and ITAL 033 . Requirements for the major, in addition to ITAL044, are seven courses related to Italy selected from the following list or approved by the major adviser:

• ITAL 044  
• two literature courses (one may be taught in English, the other should be upper division Italian, taught at Scripps;
• two history courses;
• two art history courses;
• one general course related to Italy.

Of the above additional courses, a minimum of four must be taken at the Claremont Colleges. 

• A senior thesis written in Italian is also required.
