DANC 131 SC - Critical Perspectives on Dance: Gender, Race, and Sexuality This course provides students an opportunity to critically investigate a variety of perspectives in current dance scholarship, as well as a platform to think, speak and write critically about dance as a cultural meaning-producing activity. Readings in feminism, post-modernism, semiotics and cultural studies are used to analyze the intersections of gender, race and sexuality, and the power structures reflected in, and enacted by, dance.
Prerequisite(s): First-year students by permission of instructor only. Course Credit: 1.0
