PSYC 109 SC - Psychology of Work and Family The most common family type in the United States today is dual-earner (mother and father). However, there have been relatively few adjustments to the way work and family life are aligned to promote strong families and a strong economy. Whether the metaphor is one of work-family conflict, balance, collaboration, or integration, the dynamics at the intersection of work and family are in need of examination.
