Requirements for the Minor
The minor in Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures requires six courses above SPAN 033 , selected in consultation with the academic adviser. Only one of these courses may also be used toward a student’s major requirements
- SPAN 044 , SPAN 100 or equivalent.
- One course on Spain or Latin American Civilization: SPAN 110 , SPAN 102 (at CMC) or equivalent.
- One literature survey course in Peninsular or Latin American Literature (SPAN 120A , SPAN 120B , SPAN 125A , SPAN 125B or equivalent).
- Three courses selected from the fields of anthropology, art, Chicano/a-Latino/a Studies, economics, history, international relations, literature, music, politics, sociology. Only one of these may be taken in English.
- Study abroad during one semester in Spain or a Latin American country is strongly recommended.
A complete minor declaration form must be submitted to the registrar, with the signatures of both the student’s Scripps adviser and the chair of the Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures Department (or a designated professor).
