CORE 002 SC - The Question of the Animal, Ancient and Contemporary This course examines human interaction with non-human animals, focusing on two periods, mostly in the West: the ancient and the contemporary. Topics include: the conceptualizing of boundaries between human and animal in philosophy, literature, science, and religion, the “animal-industrial complex” and its environmental impact, animal rights, and the creative imagining of animal minds.
