FGSS 188F SC - Crip Futures This course introduces students to key concepts in disability studies and the critical interventions of crip theory, arts and activism. Readings will bridge queer, feminist, and crip-of-color knowledges regarding disability and illness, bodily norms and ableism, eugenics and medical racism, mental health and trauma, criminalization and pathologization, capitalism and labor, crip temporalities, intimacy and community, healing and care. We will also consider materials of crip world-making to collectively ask what it means for the future to live in our bodies and for us to build alternative spacetimes in which no life is disposable and all might thrive in interdependent relationships.
Course Credit: 1.0
