We will discuss Dada’s reordering of aesthetic conventions and its profound challenge to traditional notions of all different kinds of visual art and literature. Topics include design, poetry, installation, film, performance, manifesto writing, montage, ready-mades, and political activism; Dada’s many connections to other movements such as Expressionism, the Bauhaus, and Surrealism; as well as Dada as a precursor of punk and other, current protest movements.
