ARHI 164 SC - Australia/Aotearoa New Zealand Art Histories Looking at the impact of colonialism on artistic form and art historiography, this seminar introduces students to key themes and debates in the history of art in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. We will take a comparative approach to topics such as Indigenous media, landscape and ecology, carceral and colonial aesthetics, painting and national identity, museums, photography and installation, and contemporary exhibition cultures. Pre-requisite: one art history course of any level.
