ENGL 149S SC - The Great American Novel This course explores the novel genre’s unique place in the American cultural imagination through in-depth readings of major works of nineteenth- and twentieth-century American fiction. It pays particular attention to the idea of “The Great American Novel” and how this ideal has shaped the development of the novel in the United States. This course fulfills the senior seminar requirement in English.
