FREN 126 SC - Theater in French: From Text to Stage

This course will introduce students to the French and Francophone theater tradition from medieval farce to contemporary plays. Emphasis will be placed on the role of theater as a site of contestation over ideas, cultural beliefs and social values. Students will not only read and analyze plays, but they will also direct, stage and perform selected scenes. The course will culminate in a public performance.
