Applied Physics Minor

Six courses are required for the minor in Applied Physics. Calculus I and Calculus II, e.g. MATH030 SC and MATH031 SC are prerequisites to this minor.

Introductory Physics: three courses 

• PHYS033L KS Principles of Physics   (or PHYS030L KS General Physics for the Life Sciences  )
• PHYS034L KS Principles of Physics   (or PHYS031L KS General Physics for the Life Sciences  I)
• PHYS035 KS Modern Physics with Computational Applications  

Mathematics: one course

• MATH032 SC Calculus III   or PHYS100 KS Computational Physics and Engineering  

Upper-division laboratory physics: one course

• PHYS106L KS Electronics Laboratory   or PHYS 190L KS Advanced Laboratory in Physics  

Upper-division physics elective:  one course chosen in consultation with physics faculty, to form a coherent course of study in applied physics.  This requirement cannot be satisfied with PHYS100 KS – Computational Physics and Engineering, Natural Science Research I/II, Independent Study, or Senior Thesis.
